Castilleja lanata
Family: Scrophulariaceae
Distribution: In Trans-Pecos Texas, SW New Mexico,
SE Arizona, and northern Mexico.
Plants Seen or Cited: This species is well represented
in the UNM herbarium with collections from Dona Ana (3 sheets),
Catron (1), Grant (1), Hidalgo (7), and Otero (6). Nesom (1992) maps
38 locations in 13 west Texas counties.
Habitat: Dry rocky slopes and hillsides up to the P-J
zone.
Discussion: Based on the distribution and number of collections,
this is not a rare species.
