Mammillaria wrightii var. wrightii (Wright Fishhook Cactus)

Distribution
In New Mexico, this variety is found from the northeast corner of the state to near Zuni, Silver City, Las Cruces and Hondo. The only verified population outside of New Mexico is at Quarino Wash, near I-40 in eastern Arizona (DJF). It is suspected to occur in Trans-Pecos, Texas and northern Chihuahua, but this has not been verified. Though doubtful, it may also occur in southeastern Arizona. The variety wolfii from central Chihuahua is very similar, but with nearly white to white flowers.
Remarks
Populations of this variety are common from Hidalgo County, New Mexico and southwestern Arizona to east central Sonora and west central Chihuahua, Mexico.
