The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is planning to take a closer look at two rare plants found only in northwestern New Mexico to see if they warrant protection under the federal Endangered Species Act.
The NM Endangered Plant Program is looking for volunteers to help document AZ willow (Salix arizonica) populations in the Pecos Wilderness of the Santa Fe National Forest, June 21-25, 2021, and possibly June 15-18 in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness of the Jemez Mountains. Learn more about AZ willow here: https://nmrareplants.unm.edu/node/160. Backpacking and backcountry experience required. If interested, please contact Daniela Roth, 505-372-8494, email@example.com
