This species of Acacia differs from others by the following combination of characteristics: leaves bipinnate, flowers in spikes, plants unarmed or only slightly thorny, the pinnae in (4)6-10 pairs.
Critically imperiled in NM because of extreme rarity or because of some factor(s) making it especially vulnerable to extirpation from New Mexico. Typically 5 or fewer occurrences or very few remaining individuals (<1,000).
The numeric rank is inexact.
